Burnley comes from behind to beat Watford
Burnley returned briefly to the top of the EFL Championship after coming from behind to beat nine-man Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road and go three points clear of Leeds United.
Fellow automatic promotion hopeful Leeds moved back to the summit after a narrow 1-0 win at Oxford United, but Scott Parker's Clarets still moved a step closer towards sealing an immediate return to the Premier League.
With the full round now having been played, Burnley sits second on goal difference from Leeds at the top, both sides on 91 points. Sheffield United, which also won its match – a 2-0 home win over Cardiff City – is third on 86 points.
Burnley made a slow start and trailed after just eight minutes with Mamadou Doumbia giving Watford the lead.
Nevertheless, Zian Flemming equalised before the break and Josh Brownhill completed the turnaround in the second half, as the Clarets extended their unbeaten league run to a joint-club record of 30 games, last reached in 1921.
Watford's faint play-off hopes of promotion are now mathematically over, and it finished the game two players short with Moussa Sissoko and Edo Kayembe both shown red cards in the second half.
