Boro misses chance to move into play-off places
Middlesbrough lost 2-1 at Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Championship, missing the chance to replace Coventry City in the last promotion play-off place after the Sky Blues also lost their match on a full day of action in the division.
The race for the four play-off positions is as tight as ever, and Boro would have taken the last spot with a win on goal difference from Frank Lampard's side.
Boro held the lead early on after Finn Azaz put it ahead at Hillsborough on 11 minutes.
But second-half goals from Josh WIndass and Anthony Musaba ensured victory for the hosts, who moved above Norwich City into 13th spot after the Canaries were beaten 3-1 at Millwall, and a third defeat in five matches for Michael Carrick's Boro.
