Giancarlo Stanton: The Yankees' MVP
The 34-year-old outfielder, Giancarlo Stanton, was named the MVP of the American League Championship Series after helping the New York Yankees secure a spot in the World Series, knocking out the Cleveland Guardians.
The Yankees clinched the series with a 2-5 victory in Game 5, and Stanton, born in Panorama City, California, hit home runs in three consecutive games. His two-run homer in the sixth inning tied the game at 2-2 with two outs, keeping the Yankees in the fight.
The game went into the 10th inning, where Dominican star Juan Soto hit a three-run homer that sealed the win for New York. Stanton’s performance was key throughout the series, with all four of his hits being home runs, driving in seven runs and scoring five times.
With this victory, the Yankees have advanced to their first World Series since 2009, where they defeated the Philadelphia Phillies. Now, Stanton and the Yankees await the winner of the Dodgers vs. Mets series to find out who they’ll face in the World Series.
