Brazil to make six changes in the starting lineup against Argentina
Brazilian coach Dorival Júnior confirmed on Monday that Brazil will make six changes for their match against Argentina this Tuesday at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires, as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Changes in Brazil's lineup
In addition to the already confirmed changes of Bento, André, Murillo, and Joelinton, Matheus Cunha and Wesley will also be included. The Brazilian coach detailed: "We have four necessary and defined changes. We are making two for the start of the match. Matheus Cunha will take João Pedro's place, and Wesley will replace Vanderson."
Bento and André will replace Alisson and Gerson, who are out due to injuries, while Murillo and Joelinton will step in for Gabriel Magalhães and Bruno Guimarães, who are suspended due to yellow card accumulation. Dorival Júnior expressed that he expects Wesley to maintain the level shown at Flamengo, although he also emphasized that Argentina's lineup will influence tactical decisions. "With six possible changes, I am confident that we will have a team ready to play a great match against a great rival," he assured.
Possible starting lineup for Brazil
Brazil's starting lineup could look like this: Bento; Wesley, Marquinhos, Murillo, Guilherme Arana; André, Joelinton, Raphinha; Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, and Matheus Cunha.
Brazil will be aiming to score points in Buenos Aires to stay near the top of the standings, while Argentina only needs a draw to secure their spot in the 2026 World Cup. The Albiceleste lead the qualifiers with 28 points, seven more than Brazil, who are in third place with 21 points.
