Real Madrid at Ease about Kylian Mbappé's Fitness
Following Real Madrid's important victory over Atalanta in the Champions League, Carlo Ancelotti and Thibaut Courtois reassured fans about the condition of Kylian Mbappé, who had to leave the match due to an injury.
"An important victory, we did what we had to do," Mbappé shared on social media after Real Madrid's 3-2 triumph in an intense game against the Serie A leaders. The French forward opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a classy goal following an exquisite touch. This strike, his 50th in the Champions League, made him the second-youngest player to reach this milestone, trailing only Lionel Messi.
However, Mbappé’s night took an unexpected turn in the 35th minute when he felt discomfort in the back of his left thigh, forcing him to leave the field. After the match, Carlo Ancelotti downplayed concerns: "It's a strain in the hamstrings. It doesn’t seem serious, but we’ll evaluate tomorrow. We decided to substitute him as a precaution."
The optimistic outlook from the Madrid coach suggests Mbappé won’t be rushed back into action in the coming days, particularly ahead of Saturday’s match against Rayo Vallecano, where he might be rested to avoid further risk. According to Marca, the French striker could be preserved to ensure he is ready for upcoming key fixtures.
Thibaut Courtois also expressed confidence: "He felt a slight muscle contraction, but I don’t think it’s serious. He stopped in time. We might miss him for Vallecas, but he should be back afterward." This potential absence adds to an already significant list of injuries in the squad, leaving Ancelotti to rethink his strategy for the next match.
