Officially Registered! When Will Neymar Debut for Santos?
The CBF confirmed that Neymar is officially registered and ready to debut for Santos. When? Very, very soon. Here's what you need to know.
Neymar was officially registered on Tuesday in the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) player registry and is now eligible to play for Santos, aiming to revive his career after a long injury spell.
"Neymar is now registered" in the CBF bulletin and "is cleared to play official matches for Santos," the entity confirmed.
The CBF’s Transfer and Licensing Department reported that all necessary documentation from Al-Hilal, his previous club, had been received, allowing for his official registration.
"The CBF welcomes Neymar and wishes him success in this new chapter of his career," the statement added.
The confederation also highlighted Neymar's record as Brazil’s all-time top scorer with 79 goals, winning the 2013 Confederations Cup and the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
When Will Neymar Make His Santos Debut?
The Brazilian star trained with his new teammates on Monday and is expected to take the field this Wednesday against Botafogo-SP in the Campeonato Paulista.
The No. 10 signed a six-month renewable contract with Santos, the club where he developed, returning just days before his 33rd birthday.
While he admitted he's not yet at 100%, Neymar is confident he’ll regain form as he gains more playing time.
