Raúl Jiménez plays 90 minutes for Fulham, who concede a last-minute equalizer against Everton
Marco Silva's side regretted the loss of two points in the final seconds, which would have brought them closer to European positions.
A goal from Guinean Beto in the 94th minute revived Everton and allowed them to snatch a last-minute draw, frustrating Fulham’s hopes for a win (1-1) that seemed assured after Nigerian Alex Iwobi put them ahead in the 60th minute.
This desperate equalizer rewarded Beto's precision, as he had just come off the bench for Dominic Calvert-Lewin ten minutes earlier, extending Everton's unbeaten streak at Goodison Park. With four games without a loss, Everton continues to pull away from the lower standings.
Fulham, who came into the match after two straight losses to strong teams like Manchester City and Aston Villa, saw victory slip away.
Fulham dominated a large part of the match, although Everton had a great chance with a shot off the post from Idrissa Gueye just before halftime when the score was still 0-0. Everton also had a goal ruled out for offside near the 30-minute mark.
Mexican forward Raúl Jiménez nearly opened the scoring in the 37th minute, beating the goalkeeper, but an Everton defender cleared his shot. However, it was Nigerian Alex Iwobi who made no mistake, taking advantage of a pass from Emile Smith Rowe inside the box to score with a low shot.
Sean Dyche’s side tried to respond, but Fulham, with counterattacks driven by the speed of Spanish Adama Traoré and Smith Rowe, repeatedly threatened Jordan Pickford, who had to make several saves.
In stoppage time, Fulham couldn’t withstand Everton’s pressure. A cross into the area from Iliman Ndiaye was met by Ashley Young, who placed the ball in the small box, where Beto headed it past Bernd Leno to tie the game. Raúl Jiménez was subbed off in the 90th minute, leaving the field as it seemed Fulham had the win in their hands.
