Leicester City Title-Winning Hero Marc Albrighton Retires
English footballer Marc Albrighton, one of the heroes of Leicester City’s Premier League-winning team in the 2016-2017 season, has announced his retirement from professional football.
Albrighton, 34, spent the last ten seasons at Leicester and decided to retire after his contract with the "Foxes" ended this summer.
The English winger, who also had stints with Aston Villa, Wigan Athletic, and West Bromwich Albion on loan, experienced his greatest days of glory at Leicester, playing in all 38 matches during the league campaign that saw Claudio Ranieri’s team crowned champions. He contributed two goals and seven assists to the most improbable title in English football history.
Albrighton, who also won the FA Cup in 2021 and played in the Champions League in the 2016-2017 season with Leicester, played over 400 matches in his career. His last achievement was helping the Foxes secure promotion to the Premier League last season.
