Fernando Redondo's son chooses to play with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami
He shone in the Pre-Olympic with Argentina, he was wanted in Europe, but the son of the former Real Madrid star will play in the MLS alongside his compatriot.
Inter Miami has a new signing. Pending official confirmation, Federico Redondo (21 years old), son of former Real Madrid star Fernando Redondo, will play in the MLS alongside his compatriot Lionel Messi.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the agreement is closed between Argentinos Juniors and Inter Miami, with only the announcement pending. The deal will be around 8 million euros, and the Argentine club reserves 15% of any future sale of the player.
Fede Redondo has recently shined in the Pre-Olympic with Argentina. A quality midfielder, many teams inquired about him considering his contract was expiring in December 2024. Boca and River Plate knocked on his door, as well as teams like Girona and Milan in Europe, but the Argentine gem will end up playing in the United States.
The president of Argentinos Juniors himself confirmed the existence of a "formal offer from Inter Miami for Redondo" and stated that it would be "a significant sale for the club."
Fede Redondo's arrival at the American club confirms that the MLS not only attracts players for retirement but also young talents who even reject European offers.
For Inter Miami, his signing is great news for "Tata" Martino and the midfield of his team. Alongside Sergio Busquets, they can form a duo combining experience and youth to control matches.
After a forgettable preseason, Inter Miami plays their final preparation friendly against Newell's this Thursday before kicking off the MLS season on February 21 against Real Salt Lake.
