Lens Sinks Brest in Ligue 1
Lens secured their second straight win under new coach William Still, beating Stade Brest 2-0 in the second round of Ligue 1. The goals came from Jhoanner Chávez and an own goal by Julien Le Cardinal.
After finishing seventh last season, Lens is back in the mix with their new coach, making a strong push for a top 3 spot with this second consecutive win.
Lens dominated at home, firing off 17 shots with eight on target. They grabbed all three points thanks to a goal from Jhoanner Chávez in the 19th minute, followed by a bit of luck right before halftime when Brest defender Le Cardinal accidentally sent the ball into his own net to make it 2-0.
With this result, Lens temporarily moves up to fourth place in the Ligue 1 standings with six points, while Brest remains stuck at the bottom with zero points and a -6 goal difference.
