Top Quotes from Mbappé's Presentation
We review the best phrases of Kylian Mbappé who fulfills a dream and has already been presented as a new Real Madrid player.
Kylian Mbappé, the new Real Madrid player, highlighted during his presentation press conference on Tuesday that, despite not being the best student, he excelled in Spanish because he had the "dream" of playing for Real Madrid and thought knowing the language would help him adapt.
“I started in school. I wasn’t the best student, but I was good at Spanish because I dreamed of playing for Real Madrid and knew that knowing Spanish would make it easier to adapt,” he said.
“I’ve also had coaches who speak Spanish, like Luis Enrique and Pochettino. I’m not afraid to speak and make mistakes; it helps me learn and improve as quickly as possible,” he added.
The Frenchman downplayed the possibility of wearing the number 10, which currently belongs to Luka Modric.
“We have a ‘10’. A legend. I’m proud to be near him in the locker room. It’s a pleasure for me. The number isn’t important to me; it’s on my back, and I look forward, to the goal. The ‘9’ is an important number at Real Madrid because of the players who’ve worn it,” he noted.
Mbappé also said he doesn’t mind where he plays when asked about his compatibility with Brazilian Vinícius Junior, revealing that Vinícius had sent him encouraging messages to play together at Real Madrid.
“The French always told me to come to Real Madrid, and so did ‘Vini’, who sent me lots of messages saying, ‘Come on, let’s play together up front.’ But I didn’t need the players to tell me that Real Madrid is the best club in the world. Still, it’s nice to know the players want you,” he said.
“Vinícius is a unique player. I’m very happy to play with him and with Rodrygo, and everyone. Great players have to play together, there won’t be any problem playing with Vinícius. He’s had perfect seasons, and now it’s up to me to adapt quickly to help the team win,” he said about Vinícius.
In his first press conference as a Real Madrid player, he also spoke about his earliest memories of the club, influenced by Zidane and Cristiano.
“Zidane. As a Frenchman, we followed all his matches. Then my idol, Cristiano, came, and I watched all the games. It’s a pleasure to be a kid who dreamed of playing for his favorite team and now go to bed saying I’m a Real Madrid player,” he said.
“Cristiano has been my idol. Now he’s a friend who gives me lots of advice, and that’s a privilege. He has made history at Real Madrid,” he added about the Portuguese player.
