Barça look to strengthen their lead
FC Barcelona will welcome Celta de Vigo to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys this Saturday as part of LaLiga Matchday 32. Kick-off is set for 4:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET / 7:15 a.m. PT).
After securing a spot in the Champions League semifinals, Hansi Flick’s side shifts its focus back to domestic competition, where they currently lead the standings by four points over Real Madrid, who will play Athletic Club on Sunday. A win over Celta would allow Barça to widen the gap and move a step closer to the title.
Despite voicing his frustration with the tight schedule, which has given his team little rest following European action, Flick is expected to field a strong starting XI, potentially rotating key players to manage fatigue.
Celta aim to surprise
Celta de Vigo, coached by Claudio Giráldez, sit seventh in the table and are battling for a spot in European competitions. Though they’re coming off a loss to Espanyol, they’ve shown solid form in recent matches.
The visitors will be without defender Carl Starfelt, who is sidelined with injury. Carlos Domínguez is expected to step in as his replacement. Midfield responsibilities will fall to Ilaix Moriba, a former Barça player, alongside Fran Beltrán. Up front, veteran striker Iago Aspas—known for strong performances against Barcelona—will lead the line.
Probable lineups
FC Barcelona (4-2-3-1): Szczęsny; Koundé, Cubarsí, Iñigo Martínez, Gerard Martín; De Jong, Pedri; Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Raphinha; Lewandowski.
Celta de Vigo (3-4-3): Guaita; Javi Rodríguez, Domínguez, Marcos Alonso; Carreira, Beltrán, Moriba, Mingueza; Aspas, Durán, Alfon.
This matchup could prove decisive for both clubs as they push for success at opposite ends of the LaLiga table.
