Endrick Breaks Down in Tears During His Real Madrid Presentation
Brazilian forward Endrick got super emotional and teary-eyed during his presentation as a new Real Madrid player at Santiago Bernabéu, saying that playing for the Spanish club "was a dream" come true.
"I can't even describe how I'm feeling right now because I've always wanted to be here. I wanted to play for Real Madrid, it was my dream, and today it came true. I'm grateful to everyone," he said in his first words to the fans, wearing the white jersey with the number 16 on his back.
"I didn't expect all of this, so many people. The fans are just wild. I'm really happy because I've been a Real Madrid fan since I was a kid, and now I get to play here. I'm here today, super happy, and so is my family. This is just crazy," he repeated from the stage, pausing to wipe away tears and manage his feelings.
His family and girlfriend were feeling all the same emotions, sitting right by one of the goal areas on the field. They were near the stage set up at one end, where Endrick walked out onto the field from the tunnel.
Endrick wrapped up his speech by getting the crowd to chant, "One, two, three; Hala Madrid," then kissed the badge on his jersey a few times and handed out balls to the tens of thousands of fans, some wearing Real Madrid or Brazil jerseys, who had packed the stands.
Before all this, President Florentino Pérez spoke, coming onto the field with honorary president José Martínez 'Pirri.' He gave his speech after a video played on the scoreboards showing Real Madrid's 15 Champions League wins (the same one shown during Kylian Mbappé's unveiling) and another highlighting Endrick's best plays, including a clip of him as a kid saying he wanted to be a Real Madrid player.
"This moment you're experiencing in this stadium was what you dreamed of as a child. That little boy who started playing football knew he wanted to be a pro and play for Real Madrid someday. That determination and conviction, along with your talent and hard work, brought you here to fulfill that dream you had when you were just 9 years old and got to share moments of football and life with the Real Madrid Foundation. Back then, you already got a glimpse of the values of this club and how they are instilled," he said.
"You've become one of the rising stars in international football. Your incredible plays and goals already thrill football lovers, and all of us Madrid fans are so happy you're now part of this big family that will give you everything. Real Madrid and Brazil have a shared history in football, thanks to great players who've experienced what you're starting now," he added, also thanking the Brazilian ambassador to Spain for attending the event.
