Barcelona Takes Drastic Action Against Its Fans
The Catalan club decided to close the supporters' section of the stadium, and here are the reasons behind this significant decision.
FC Barcelona has decided to indefinitely close the section designated for fan groups at the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc due to "non-compliance" by these groups with the commitments made to the club.
According to a statement released by FC Barcelona, the club highlighted "repeated warnings" to various fan groups (Almogàvers, Front 532, Nostra Ensenya, and Supporters Barça) regarding the repayment of fines imposed on the club for their conduct in the stands last season.
The total amount owed is approximately €21,000 ($22.000), stemming from "fourteen disciplinary cases for behavior contrary to the regulations in the fan section" during the previous season.
The club clarified that it had granted the groups "three separate deadlines" to fulfill their obligations, the last of which expired at midnight on Monday "without any resolution."
As a result, FC Barcelona has decided to "indefinitely close the Espai d'Animació" due to the failure to meet these deadlines and commitments.
"At the same time, we reiterate the Club’s full willingness to discuss the situation of the EDA (Espai d'Animació) with the groups in question once they have fulfilled their obligations," the statement concluded.
