Barcelona Rejected ¡270 MILLION! Offer for Lamine Before Euro
Before the Euro, Barcelona rejected an offer of 250 million euros ($270 million) for winger Lamine Yamal, considering him untouchable as a cornerstone of their sports project, sources from the Catalan club told EFE.
The offer wasn’t even considered by the technical department headed by Anderson Luis de Souza 'Deco'. During the last season, besides renewing Lamine Yamal, they also renewed two other gems from the Barça academy: center-back Pau Cubarsí and full-back Hector Fort.
Yamal, who will turn 17 in a few days and has become the star of the Euro with the Spanish national team, renewed his contract until 2026, extendable to 2028 when he turns 18, with a release clause of 1 billion euros.
Cubarsí, who at 17 will play in the Olympics with Spain, renewed until 2027 with a release clause of 500 million. And Fort, who will turn 18 next month, renewed until 2026, though the club has not disclosed his current release clause.
Last season, Barça also renewed midfielder Fermín López, 21, one of the revelations of last season, until 2028, with a release clause of 400 million.
Among the players with the most potential, the only one they couldn’t retain is forward Marc Guiu, who decided to pay his 6 million euro clause and sign with Chelsea.
