Atlético Madrid Suffers Another Midfield Injury
Pablo Barrios, Atlético Madrid’s midfielder, picked up a muscle injury in the dying moments of their match against Leganés at the Metropolitano Stadium. The young player, clearly devastated, was consoled by his teammates after the game. Barrios had just returned to action two weeks ago following a previous muscle issue.
After missing five matches, Barrios was back in the starting lineup and played the entire game against Leganés. However, in added time, he suffered this new setback. Although he stayed on the pitch after the injury, it was evident that he could barely move. He was eventually subbed off at minute 99 with the team doctor, Óscar Celada, accompanying him. Medical tests will determine the full extent of the injury.
How did the match end?
Despite going 0-1 down in the first half after a goal from Leganés' Neyou, Atlético Madrid staged a brilliant comeback. Alexander Sørloth scored twice—one with a backheel in the 69th minute from an Axel Witsel assist, and another in the final moments. Antoine Griezmann also found the back of the net in the 80th minute, assisted by Giuliano Simeone, sealing a 3-1 win for Atlético.
