Álvaro Morata Decides to Leave Atlético Madrid
Enrique Cerezo, president of Atlético Madrid, acknowledged that Álvaro Morata "has decided" to move "to another team" and that, although it "annoys and bothers" them because "he is a magnificent player," they are not going to "stop him."
"It seems so (about Morata going to Milan). According to the press, he is signing today. First, he said he was staying, and then he said he was leaving. Atlético is a team where whoever wants to stay stays, and whoever wants to leave leaves," he stated in an interview with the Tarde AR Verano program on Telecinco.
"It annoys and bothers us because Morata is a magnificent player, a magnificent center forward, and a magnificent person, but he has to decide his destiny. He has decided that he wants to go to another team, and I am not going to stop him, nor will anyone at Atlético Madrid," he added.
Morata's departure, which points to Milan, could occur after, on July 2, amid rumors of a possible move to Saudi football, he shared a message of love towards Atlético Madrid on his social media.
"I can't imagine what it would be like to win with this jersey, and I won't stop until I achieve it," he wrote in a post shared on Instagram alongside the red-and-white team.
