LDU Quito Defeat Deportivo Táchira to Stay Strong in Group C
LDU Quito secured their first win of the 2025 Copa Libertadores group stage with a convincing 2-0 victory over Deportivo Táchira on April 9, at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado in Quito. The result pushes the Ecuadorian side to the top spots in a highly competitive Group C.
The first 45 minutes saw Deportivo Táchira hold their ground thanks to a standout performance from goalkeeper Jesús Camargo, who made several key saves to keep LDU at bay. Despite dominating possession and chances, the hosts couldn’t break the deadlock before halftime.
The second half belonged to Alex Arce. The Paraguayan striker finally opened the scoring in the 72nd minute with a powerful header after a precise cross from the right flank. Ten minutes later, he sealed the match with his second goal, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from the visitors.
With this brace, Arce becomes LDU Quito's leading scorer in the competition so far.
Thanks to this win, LDU Quito now sit on 4 points, level with Central Córdoba but ahead on goal difference. Meanwhile, Deportivo Táchira remain bottom of the group with zero points from two games. With Flamengo also in the group, every point will be crucial moving forward.
