Wayne Rooney, the legendary former forward for Manchester United and the England national team, is reportedly on the verge of making a comeback in sports, but this time, it's not in football— it's in boxing!

According to ESPN, the 38-year-old former footballer is in talks with the promotional company Misfits Boxing, known for organizing amateur boxing matches, to have a fight in the ring.

This company has previously arranged bouts between major celebrities, including the recent clash between YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul, as well as events involving the likes of millionaire Joe Fournier and influencer Alaeana Vampira.

If the hypothetical match materializes, Rooney would be trained by the boxer Ricky Hatton, whom the former forward is a fan of. Hatton would prepare Rooney for this new and "bizarre" challenge after recently being dismissed as the coach of the English Championship club Birmingham City.
