VIDEO | The Terrible Tackle That Could Have Seriously Injured Messi
The Argentine was the victim of a dangerous tackle that could have seriously injured him. Miraculously, he continued playing. Incredible.
Inter Miami managed to secure a beneficial draw in their visit to Nashville in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League round of 16, thanks to a Lionel Messi who scored and could have ended up seriously injured.
Indeed, the Argentine received a strong tackle from MacNaughton in the 77th minute, which not only made fans fear the worst but also Messi himself, who expressed visible pain gestures on the pitch.
The tackle with the studs up caused Messi's ankle to twist. Fans held their breath in the stands as Messi writhed in pain.
MacNaughton himself approached to apologize, but Messi, upset by the ugly action, made it clear that such actions cannot take place on the field.
Fortunately, Messi was able to continue playing, and oddly enough, the referee didn't even call a foul on that action.
