Twelve years ago today, Lionel Messi achieved a milestone in the UEFA Champions League that had not been accomplished until that date... Scoring five goals in a single match.

"La Pulga" achieved this feat in the second-leg match of the 2011-2012 Round of 16, where Barcelona faced Bayer Leverkusen. The same match where the Blaugrana crushed their opponents 7-1.

Of those seven goals, the Argentine maestro took charge of scoring five, also achieving his first "poker" in the process. Interestingly, Messi would repeat this in 2022, just before the Qatar World Cup, when he replicated this incredible feat against Estonia.
