Diego Armando Maradona played beach soccer, as you heard. It wasn't the one who lifted the World Cup in Mexico '86, but his son who bears his name.
Diego Armando Maradona Sinagra came through the youth ranks of Napoli, only to later play beach soccer for ASD Mare di Roma, a team that allowed him to represent Italy.
He was selected for the 2008 World Cup in Marseille, France, where his team finished as runners-up.
Maradona's team lost the final 5-3 to Brazil, but Sinagra scored two goals in the tournament. Among other achievements in beach soccer, he won a title with Napoli Beach Soccer in the Italian league, as well as an Italian Supercup with Catania Beach Soccer.
