The Secret Behind Lamine Yamal's Smile
Lamine Yamal, the rising star of FC Barcelona, sports visible braces—a rare sight among professional footballers due to the risk of mouth injuries from impact. This unique feature allowed a jewelry brand to install six Barça-colored stars on his dental brackets, which he proudly displayed during the recent El Clásico against Real Madrid.
Lamine's standout personality complements his talent, which has seen him shatter records for early success. In the 4-0 victory over Real Madrid, he celebrated his first goal against their arch-rivals by flashing a Barça-colored smile for the cameras.
This striking look was created with the help of Autrán Dental Clinic, which customized the brackets, and jewelry brand TwoJeys, who saw an opportunity to add a special flair to Lamine’s smile in a high-profile match. The concept was first discussed by TwoJeys’ founders, Biel Juste and Joan Margarit, during last summer’s Euro final between Spain and England. In collaboration with Lamine, who loved the idea, the vision became reality on Sunday in Madrid.
Contacted via Instagram, the Mataró-born player quickly embraced the unique suggestion. In a recent interview with RAC1, the creators shared that the goal was to make Lamine's smile shine without breaking regulations that prohibit jewelry in professional football matches.
Dental expert Fernando Autrán played a key role in the project. “To install something like this requires careful planning,” Autrán explained to EFE, noting that the decorative element could not be worn regularly and was a one-time fixture. The clinic also fitted him with custom protectors to prevent injury.
The innovative braces, which sparkled throughout the match, highlighted the young player's distinctiveness and showcased the creativity of the campaign. Remarkably, it was an “organic” promotion, as Yamal did not receive payment for displaying his customized brackets in the celebrated clash.
