The Redemption Story of Christian Eriksen
Nearly three years have passed since the harrowing incident that shocked the world during Euro 2020, when Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field in a group stage match between Denmark and Finland, just minutes before the end of the first half.
In that moment, the worst was feared as Eriksen underwent CPR while the world watched in shock. Fortunately, Eriksen was able to breathe again and was subsequently transported to a hospital where a defibrillator was implanted in his heart following the cardiac arrest he suffered.
For a time, it was thought that the footballer's career had definitively ended. However, Eriksen made a remarkable return to the pitch eight months later, thanks to an opportunity provided by Brentford.
Eriksen rejoined the Danish national team in March 2022 and even competed in the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Now, three years later, the 32-year-old returns to the European stage where he experienced the worst moment of his career.
In the match against Slovenia, Eriksen began his redemption journey with his nation. In the 17th minute, he scored the goal that gave Denmark a temporary lead, closing a nearly three-year chapter of hardship for the Danish player.
