The Reason Beckham Was Surprised by Messi on His First Day at Inter Miami
David Beckham was deeply impressed by Lionel Messi's dedication from his very first day at Inter Miami.
In an interview with Rio Ferdinand, Beckham revealed: "On his first day of training, he arrived at 6:50 AM when the team was scheduled for 10. He was there alone, went to the gym, did his warm-up. He did everything you'd expect from a young player."
The former footballer emphasized that Messi is not only focused on his own improvement but also takes the time to mentor younger players: "He's the kind of player who stays after training to teach the younger guys."
Beckham continued to praise Messi’s impact on the club and the league: "We've seen it over the years, he's the first to arrive at the gym and the last to leave."
According to Beckham, the Argentine has taken on a mentoring role within Inter Miami, displaying a humble and approachable attitude toward his teammates. "He doesn't make anyone feel inferior, and he's always willing to help," the Englishman added, highlighting how the World Cup champion has transformed the club's dynamic.
For the former Real Madrid star, Messi's arrival has not only been a success on the field but also in terms of leadership within the team. "He's a player who makes everyone around him better," commented Inter Miami's owner, stressing Messi's key role in the club’s growth in Major League Soccer (MLS).
