Ronaldo vs Cristiano Ronaldo: The Brazilian Does Not Consider Him the Best in History
The debate over who is the greatest footballer of all time continues to spark divided opinions, and this time, Ronaldo Nazário has questioned Cristiano Ronaldo's words. The Brazilian, a two-time World Cup champion, has acknowledged the greatness of the Portuguese star but does not share his claim of being the most complete and greatest player of all time. For him, the Al-Nassr forward deserves a place among the elite, but not at the absolute pinnacle of football.
Cristiano Ronaldo has never hidden his self-confidence. In a recent interview, he stated that, from an objective point of view, he is the most complete footballer in history. His comments quickly sparked reactions, especially among figures who have shared a locker room with him or faced him at his peak. While some, like Ángel Di María and Rodrigo De Paul, defended Lionel Messi's superiority, others, such as Karim Benzema, leaned towards Ronaldo Nazário, their childhood idol.
When asked about the topic, the former Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Inter Milan striker made his stance clear. "Cristiano has an incredible career, he has scored in every way possible and successfully adapted to different positions. He is undoubtedly one of the best, but not the greatest," he said in an interview with ESPN Brasil. With diplomacy, he acknowledged Cristiano's talent but did not endorse his self-proclaimed status as the greatest of all time.
What stood out was that the Brazilian avoided giving a specific ranking or including himself in the list. Unlike Cristiano, Ronaldo prefers others to speak about his legacy. "I don't like talking about myself; I prefer others to evaluate my career," he commented, subtly expressing his discomfort with such debates.
Beyond their differences in opinion, both have left an indelible mark on football. While Cristiano continues to shine in Arab football and defends himself as the greatest in history, Ronaldo has his sights set on another goal: becoming the next president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). The election, scheduled between 2025 and 2026, could mark a new chapter in his life, far from discussions about who is the greatest.

The clash of opinions between Ronaldo and Cristiano shows that greatness in football is subjective. For some, titles and records speak for themselves; for others, pure talent and magic on the field weigh more. One thing is certain: although their names sound similar, their perspectives on football seem to be worlds apart.
