Real Madrid's High-Intensity Training With Hypoxia Masks
Real Madrid players underwent a high-intensity test using hypoxia masks during Wednesday's training session at the Real Madrid City Training Ground in Valdebebas, under the supervision of fitness coach Antonio Pintus. Among the participants was Éder Militao, who is nearing the end of his recovery from a left anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered on August 12th against Athletic Club in LaLiga EA Sports' first match of the season.
The club aims for Militao, along with Thibaut Courtois, who suffered a similar injury two days earlier, to return by mid-April. However, David Alaba, another long-term absentee due to injury since mid-December, still requires more time for his comeback.
The remaining available players engaged in a specialized training session led by Pintus, focusing on evaluating their fitness levels before the crucial stages of the season, including the pursuit of the league title and Champions League knockout rounds.
Pintus utilized hypoxia masks, now a standard tool in their training regimen, to simulate high-altitude training conditions by regulating oxygen intake and monitoring heart rate and overall player condition. These masks cover the mouth and nose, providing insights into player performance and readiness for the challenges ahead, despite training on the Valdebebas training ground.
