Rakitic Fulfills His Dream of Playing for This Team
Hajduk Split has confirmed in a statement the signing of Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who returns to his home country's league after a brief stint with Saudi Arabia's Al-Shabab, where he played for three months.
Rakitic, 36, has signed a one-year contract with an option for an additional year with Hajduk. In their announcement, they hailed him as "one of the greatest players in the history of Croatian football." Throughout his illustrious career, he's also played for Basel, Schalke, Sevilla (in two stints), and Barcelona.
He's won the Swiss Cup, four Spanish leagues, four Copa del Rey titles, two Spanish Supercups, the Champions League, the UEFA Supercup, and the Club World Cup with Barcelona. With Sevilla, he snagged two Europa League titles. With the national team, he was a World Cup runner-up in Russia 2018 and has played over 100 matches.
