OFFICIAL: Lethal Striker Artem Dovbyk Signs for Roma
Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk has officially joined AS Roma after the Italian club reached an agreement for his transfer with Girona, the club he played for last season.
During that season, Dovbyk became the top scorer in La Liga with 24 goals in 36 matches. He also provided eight assists, playing a crucial role in Girona's historic third-place finish and their first-ever qualification for the Champions League.
Girona acknowledged Dovbyk's contributions in their statement announcing his departure: "The club would like to thank Artem Dovbyk for his effort, hard work, and dedication during the season he has been with us. His performances and commitment have been fundamental to the achievements we've accomplished together. Good luck, Artem!"
Previously, the 27-year-old striker played for Dnipro-1 in his native Ukraine, after stints with Danish clubs Midtjylland and SønderjyskE, as well as experience in the Moldovan league with Zaria Bălți.
Dovbyk represented Ukraine in the recent European Championship in Germany, as well as the 2020 edition, where he scored a goal. In his new chapter with Roma, he will wear the number 11 jersey and will become the first Ukrainian to play for the capital city's club.
