Neymar's family assisted Dani Alves with €150,000.
The sentence for Dani Alves came after the Brazilian was placed in preventive prison on January 20, 2023, after being accused of sexually assaulting a young woman on December 30, 2022. The sentence of four years and six months in prison for sexual assault caused surprise in various sectors, with even the Brazilian government considering the four-and-a-half-year prison sentence imposed on footballer Dani Alves as "lenient" for such an "atrocity."
Alves faced between 9 and 12 years in prison, as requested by the Spanish Prosecutor's Office and the private prosecution. However, the sentence was reduced due to a "mitigating factor" for repairing the damage, by paying 150,000 euros to the victim before the trial.
According to information from various Brazilian media outlets, Alves obtained this mitigating factor with the help of Neymar's family, who lent him the money.
On the other hand, the president of the ruling Workers' Party (PT) in Brazil, Gleisi Hoffmann, criticized Neymar for lending Alves the 150,000 euros set as compensation to the victim, which, when paid in advance, served as a mitigating factor.
