Neymar Congratulates Brazilian Star for Breaking His Record
Estêvão becomes the player with the most goal involvements at 17 years old in the Campeonato Brasileiro, surpassing Neymar.
Neymar, the Saudi Al-Hilal forward, congratulated Estêvão, the 'jewel' of Palmeiras and already committed to Chelsea, on Monday for taking the title of the player with the most goal involvements at the age of 17 in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
"Congratulations @estevaowillian on the record. I wish you continue to shine and enchant everyone with your football. Fly high," stated the veteran Brazilian international in a message on his social media, addressing one of the young players considered his successor in the national team.
With one goal and one assist on Sunday in Palmeiras' 5-3 victory against Juventude, the young attacker reached a total of 18 goal involvements in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

This figure allows him to surpass Neymar, who had 16 goals and assists in the Campeonato Brasileiro until 2009 and was the Brazilian player with the most direct goal involvements at 17 years old in Brazil's top football tournament.
Estêvão has been making a name for himself in Palmeiras' first team since last year and has received his first call-ups to the Brazil senior national team, while Neymar has not been called up since last year due to a severe knee injury.
However, the Al-Hilal forward has recovered from his injury and started on the bench in the last match for the Saudi team, so he is expected to return to the national team for the World Cup qualifiers in November against Venezuela and Uruguay.
Estêvão also missed the last call-up due to an injury but is now competing fit and ready for Palmeiras, the Brazilian champions from last year, who, with Sunday’s victory, are just one point behind leaders Botafogo in this year’s league standings.
