Montenegro Goalkeeper Passes Away at 26
Matija Sarkic, the Montenegrin goalkeeper for Millwall, a team in the Championship (England's second division), has tragically passed away at the age of 26, the club announced in a statement.
Sarkic, born in London but an international for Montenegro, played 33 matches for Millwall since joining last summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
"Millwall is devastated to announce that Matija Sarkic has passed away at the age of 26. Everyone at the club sends love and condolences to his family and friends during this very sad time," the club said.
In addition to his time at Millwall and Wolves, Sarkic also had stints with Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Stoke City, and Wigan Athletic.
