Militao withdrawn from Brazil squad after controversy over his injury
Eder Militao will not be part of the Brazilian national team for the upcoming international fixtures, a decision that has caused frustration at Real Madrid. Despite the Madrid club having notified the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) about the defender’s physical issues, the organization decided that the player should travel to Brazil to undergo medical tests. This measure was taken after Militao experienced discomfort in his left thigh during the match against Atlético Madrid, which led to his substitution in the following game against Lille.
After a 12-hour flight to São Paulo, tests confirmed that Militao’s injury was not serious, as the Spanish club had already indicated. This caused significant frustration in Chamartín, especially when compared to the treatment of Vinicius Jr., who was excused from traveling due to a cervical injury suffered in the match against Villarreal. The defender will return to Madrid to continue his recovery, with the aim of being available for the match against Celta after the international break.
Militao’s absence adds to that of Vinicius and Dani Carvajal, who will also not be available for the Spanish national team after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in the same match against Villarreal. These absences have raised concerns at Real Madrid, as the club approaches the final stretch of the year without several of its key players.
