Mikel Merino Suffers a Severe Injury with Arsenal
Mikel Merino, Arsenal's newly signed midfielder, will be sidelined for "several weeks" after sustaining a shoulder injury during a training session.
Merino, who recently joined the London club, suffered the injury when teammate Gabriel Magalhaes landed on him during a drill.
"He’s been really unlucky. Yesterday, he took a hit and has a shoulder injury. It looks like he’ll be out for several weeks," confirmed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta this Friday.
"He fell to the ground, and Gabriel landed on him, which seems to have caused a small fracture."
The former Real Sociedad player was not included in Luis de la Fuente’s squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Serbia and Switzerland.
