Messi Celebrates Like a Superhero Again
Lionel Messi once again captured everyone's attention with his unique celebration after scoring a goal in the 1-1 draw between Inter Miami and Charlotte FC. Upon netting the equalizer, Messi mimicked Iron Man, lifting his heels as if taking off, in a clear homage to the Marvel superhero.
This gesture is part of a series of celebrations inspired by Marvel characters that Messi has been performing, including previous tributes to Spider-Man and Thor.
Messi's goal, a stunning shot from outside the box in the 66th minute, not only secured the draw but also added another record to his career, marking his 96th goal from outside the area, a milestone that makes him the player with the most goals from that distance.
This was his 15th goal of the season in MLS, solidifying his position as one of the league's top scorers.
How Did Inter Miami Fare Against Charlotte?
Inter Miami recorded its third consecutive draw after a 2-2 result against Atlanta and a 1-1 against New York City. This time, it was a 1-1 draw with regrets against Charlotte, after a match where Gerardo Martino's men repeatedly encountered Croatian goalkeeper Khalina.
Having gone two games without scoring, Messi netted a spectacular goal in the second half to equalize a strike from Polish player Karol Swiderski, but he found himself thwarted at least three times by the opposing goalkeeper.
Messi played his 16th match of the season but left the field furious with the referee and received a yellow card at the end of the game.
Ecuadorian Leonardo Campana and Luis Suárez had huge opportunities in stoppage time to secure three points for Inter Miami, but they failed to convert.
Despite dropping two points, the Florida club did not lose ground on Columbus Crew, the team they will face this Wednesday and the last with a real chance to catch up in the standings.
