Madrid in the Running to Host 2027 Champions League Final
The UEFA has confirmed that Madrid's Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium, home to Atlético Madrid, is a strong candidate to host the 2027 Champions League Final.
The venue, which meets all UEFA standards, previously hosted the 2019 final where Liverpool triumphed over Tottenham (2-0), making it an experienced option for the prestigious event.
Madrid isn’t the only candidate; the Baku Olympic Stadium has also submitted a bid to host the final. While Marseille’s Vélodrome was initially considered after a proposal from a local official, the idea did not materialize.
All candidates are required to submit final proposals by March 19, 2025, after which UEFA’s executive committee will evaluate them and announce the selected venue in May 2025.
Originally, the 2027 final was slated for San Siro Stadium in Milan, but UEFA reconsidered due to potential renovation work, opening up opportunities for other European venues to bid for hosting the event.
