Müller Reassures Germany: He Won’t Follow in Kroos’s Footsteps
Bayern Munich player Thomas Müller has assured that he is not contemplating retirement from the German National Team, focusing instead on the upcoming Euro 2024.
Reflecting on his apparent farewell remarks after the 2018 World Cup—which led to a two-year absence from the national team due to Joachim Löw's decisions—Müller clarified his position during a press conference in their training camp.
"I was never close to leaving. Maybe I was close to saying goodbye because I didn't know if I would be back in the national team. That’s why I used the interview to express my emotions," Müller emphasized.
Regarding his teammate Toni Kroos, who will retire after the tournament, Müller said: "We haven't finished yet, and I haven't said goodbye to him."
"We know each other very well, both privately and on the field. I can deeply feel how he behaves and plays," he added.
