Reactions to the Dani Alves Case
The Dani Alves case has reached a resolution after a considerable amount of time, although it does not seem to be final. After it was revealed that the player's sentence would be four and a half years in prison, lawyers from both parties shared their perspectives.
The lawyer for the plaintiff, David Sáez, expressed feeling "satisfied" with the final resolution but also mentioned that they will review "whether the severity of the sentence corresponds to the gravity of the facts."
On the other hand, Inés Guardiola, Dani Alves' defense attorney, declared that they would appeal the verdict: "I still believe and defend Mr. Alves's innocence; he is steadfast. Of course, we will appeal."
The former Barcelona player was found guilty of sexual assault against a woman in a nightclub bathroom in Barcelona on New Year's Eve 2022. Alves has been in police custody since January 2023.
