It appears that Julián Álvarez's future is about to take an unexpected turn, as the Manchester City forward is reportedly close to reaching an agreement to join Atlético Madrid.

According to David Ornstein, a reporter for The Athletic, the Argentine has been in talks with the Madrid-based team since last week, and the deal could be finalized for $81 million.

Reports also indicate that the 24-year-old forward is amenable to moving to the Spanish capital, suggesting that the remaining details of the transfer should not be difficult to finalize.

Julián Álvarez has been with the "Cityzens" since January 2022. During his time with the English club, he has won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and a Champions League in 2023.

Furthermore, the striker has scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists in 54 appearances. Despite these numbers, the Argentine has often found himself playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland, which might have fueled his desire to move to Spain.
