Iker Muniain Ready to Debut for San Lorenzo: "I'm Available Whenever the Coach Wants"
Former Athletic Club de Bilbao captain Iker Muniain was unveiled as the new player of the azulgrana club and stated that he feels "good" physically to make his debut "whenever the coach (Leandro Romagnoli) decides."
Muniain appeared alongside the club's president, Marcelo Moretti, in the press room at Estadio Pedro Bidegain in Buenos Aires, where they both presented the Pamplona-born player (Navarra, northern Spain) with the azulgrana jersey, which will bear the number 80 on his back.
"Honestly, I feel good. I trained with my teammates today, and I'm ready," Muniain said. He also revealed that he had been working with a fitness coach during these months "to be available and not have to start from scratch or go through preseason."
The former Athletic Club captain emphasized, "Whenever the coach wants, I'm available."
Muniain, who has signed until December 2025 and is accompanied by his entire family in Buenos Aires, arrives at the Boedo neighborhood club at a difficult moment for the team, which currently sits in 23rd place out of 28 teams in the Argentine Professional League and is far from qualifying for international competitions in the annual standings.
Additionally, San Lorenzo was recently eliminated in the Copa Libertadores round of 16 by Brazil's Atlético Mineiro and also knocked out of the Copa Argentina after losing to Vélez Sársfield in the round of 16.
