How Long Will Camavinga Be Out and Which Matches Will He Miss?
Eduardo Camavinga set off alarm bells after suffering a serious injury during Real Madrid's training session.
Camavinga's injury will have an immediate impact on Carlo Ancelotti's team, as Real Madrid is set to play in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta this Wednesday, August 14, in a one-off match at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland.
However, after the French player left training on Tuesday due to his injury, it’s clear that he won’t be participating in today’s match. The injury occurred without any contact with another player—it was a freak accident that caught the attention of the coaching staff and players because of Camavinga's cries of pain.
On the other hand, Real Madrid has already released a statement explaining what happened and the severity of his injury. “Following tests conducted today, our player Eduardo Camavinga has been diagnosed with a sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. He will be monitored as his condition evolves,” the statement read.
With this in mind, the club is already taking precautions and expects the 21-year-old to be sidelined for at least six to seven weeks. The hope is that the Frenchman will be ready to return to action around the seventh or eighth round of LaLiga.
Camavinga will miss the crucial UEFA Super Cup match against Atalanta, as well as league games against Mallorca, Valladolid, Las Palmas, Betis, Real Sociedad, and Espanyol. His recovery will determine whether he’ll be fit to play in the derby against Atlético Madrid on September 29.
