Fluminense Terminates Marcelo’s Contract!
Fluminense has officially announced the termination of Marcelo Vieira’s contract following a sideline dispute between the player and head coach Mano Menezes during a recent match against Grêmio.
In an official statement, the club said, “Fluminense FC and Marcelo Vieira announce the end of the contract by mutual agreement.”
Marcelo, who began his career in Fluminense's youth system, returned to the club in 2023 after a highly successful 15-year run with Real Madrid.
In his second stint with the Rio de Janeiro-based team, Marcelo helped secure the Campeonato Carioca and Copa Libertadores titles in 2023, as well as the Recopa Sudamericana in 2024.
The incident that led to the contract termination occurred in the final minutes of the match against Grêmio, when Marcelo and Menezes had an argument on the sideline.
