Does Rodrygo Have Jealousy Towards Mbappé, Bellingham, and Vinícius? What Ancelotti Said
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti dismissed any notion that Brazilian forward Rodrygo Goes harbors jealousy towards teammates like Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, or Vinícius Júnior. Ancelotti also supported Rodrygo's complaint about not being included in the Ballon d'Or shortlist, asserting that "they have forgotten" his crucial goals against Manchester City and his contributions to last year’s Champions League.
"I think Rodrygo has not been given enough credit in the Ballon d'Or selection, and I understand why he is upset. He deserved to be among the top 30 without a doubt. Someone has overlooked what he did in the Champions League last year, scoring in both games against City and always being very important," Ancelotti said in a press conference.
Ancelotti refuted any suggestion that Rodrygo might have jealousy issues, highlighting that there are no such problems in the squad, which maintains the same positive environment as before. He praised Rodrygo’s versatility, noting that his ability to play in multiple positions is a valuable asset.
"Being a versatile player is a virtue for him and for us, as we have a player who can play in many positions and always contributes with significant movement," Ancelotti added.
Far from being envious of his teammates, Ancelotti emphasized that Rodrygo benefits from training and playing alongside them to continue his development. He reassured that Rodrygo holds equal importance in the team.
"For him, it's a motivation to compare himself with these players, and for me, he holds the same importance. I am the one who makes the choices, and he is just as important. I do not see any problem, and he has never mentioned having any issues in this regard," Ancelotti explained.
"If there were a problem, I would detect it. We do not discuss what a player says while with his national team. Inside the club, we maintain a very healthy atmosphere with players who are progressing and taking on more responsibility, like Vinícius, Rodrygo, Valverde, Tchouaméni, and other young players who are stepping up," he concluded.
