Courtois' Comments Following Defeat to Barcelona
Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid's goalkeeper, downplayed the significance of the 2-1 loss to Barcelona in a friendly El Clásico held in the New York metropolitan area.
"It's preseason. We're working, and obviously, there are things we can improve on. But in the end, we have who we have, and they do too," the goalkeeper commented in the mixed zone, referring to the absence of stars from both teams.
"Ultimately, it's a friendly that doesn't mean much more than perhaps the prestige of the preseason, of winning this match. I think we had chances to do more. They did too, and in the end, the result is what it is. We're not worried, we have to keep working. On Tuesday against Chelsea, we perhaps need to show a bit more in terms of goal-scoring opportunities. But everything's fine," he added.
Pau Víctor, with a brace, was the star for a Barcelona side that has now won all four friendlies they've played against Real Madrid on U.S. soil.
