Casemiro's Confession: "Ancelotti was Crying
Casemiro undoubtedly played a pivotal role in Real Madrid's conquest of their 14th Champions League title, achieved by defeating Liverpool in the final of the 2021-22 season under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti.
This achievement marked a glorious end to Casemiro's tenure at Real Madrid, during which he amassed five European trophies in just over 9 years. Feeling it was time for a new challenge, the Brazilian midfielder decided to move on, despite Ancelotti's emotional plea for him to stay.
"Before leaving for Manchester United, Ancelotti asked me not to go while in tears," Casemiro revealed. "I went to speak with Ancelotti, and he already knew I was leaving. As I entered his office, he turned around, and he was crying. Carlo told me he didn't want me to leave, that he cared about me a lot."
Despite the emotional plea from his coach and the strong affection he felt from the Real Madrid team, Casemiro had already committed to Manchester United. "I was highly valued at Madrid, but I had already given my word to United, and that is more important than anything else," he explained.
