Aubameyang Joins New Team After Leaving Marseille
The former Marseille striker has been officially announced as the new signing for a Saudi Arabian team.
The Saudi club Al Qadisiyah announced on Thursday the signing of Gabonese striker and former Barcelona player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from French club Marseille, to strengthen the team led by Spanish coach Míchel González.
The Saudi club announced the signing on their social media with a video showcasing Aubameyang's most notable goals and celebrations throughout his career, accompanied by the message: “This is where the success story began... and it continues at Al-Qadisiyah.”
The club did not reveal the financial details of the deal, but according to Saudi and French media, he signed a contract until 2026 with a salary of 20 million euros (21.9 million dollars) per season.
At the end of June, the Saudi club also announced the signing of defender Nacho Fernández, formerly of Real Madrid, for two seasons.
Aubameyang (34) has played for several clubs throughout his career, including English side Arsenal, German club Borussia Dortmund, and Barcelona, where he had a standout role in the 2021-2022 season, scoring 13 goals in 23 matches.
Aubameyang bid farewell to Marseille's fans and his teammates on social media, thanking them for their support during his time with the team. He decided to leave the club before his contract, which was set to run until June 2026, ended.
