“PSG Is Bigger Than the Stars”
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has made his stance clear regarding the club's current direction following Kylian Mbappé's departure. Speaking at the EA7 World Legends Padel Tour, Al-Khelaifi emphasized the club’s collective strength over individual stars. "PSG is more important than the stars," he stated, highlighting that while the team has had prominent figures in recent years, the current project is focused on collective success rather than individual dependencies.
Al-Khelaifi noted that the team has had a strong start to the season, with positive performances in their first three games under new coach Luis Enrique. "We’ve started well, but this is just the beginning, and there’s still a lot of work to be done," said the president. He acknowledged that both the coach and the team are on the right path but must stay focused and consistent to meet the season’s goals.
The PSG president also took the opportunity to spotlight emerging talent within the team and the French national team. Despite Mbappé’s departure, Al-Khelaifi stressed the importance of young players like Doué in the U-21 squad and new signings such as Barcola, Dembélé, and Kolo Muani. "We are proud of them," he remarked, referring to the new generation poised to elevate PSG to new heights through collective effort.
In addition to his football comments, Al-Khelaifi expressed enthusiasm for padel, a sport he views as a great way to relieve stress from football. "Padel helps to alleviate stress and it's great to play with friends," he noted, underlining the importance of maintaining balance in life both on and off the field.
