Morocco Secure U23 AFCON Championship with Victory over Defending Champions Egypt
Morocco staged a comeback, defeating reigning champions Egypt with a score of 2-1 to win the U-23 AFCON.
After a counterattack, Mahmoud Saber Abdelmohsen Hassan took a shot from distance that was unstoppable, scoring the opening goal of the match for the reigning champions in the 10th minute.
After seeing the goal scorer for Egypt receive a red card, Yanis Begraoui equalized for the tournament hosts with a superb finish inside the box in the 37th minute.
It was Oussama Targhalline who once again gave Morocco the lead after a set-piece play, the number 14 unleashed a shot from outside the box to make it 2-1.
This is the first U-23 title for Morocco, after falling in the final of 2011 against Gabon, also as hosts of the competition.
