Djokovic to Receive One of the Largest Prizes for Paris Gold
The Serbian government awarded tennis player Novak Djokovic 200,000 euros on Monday for winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics on Sunday, where he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final 7-6(5), 7-6(3).
His coach, Viktor Troicki, will also receive the same amount, equivalent in Serbian dinars, as Djokovic, corresponding to the gold medal winner in Paris.
Djokovic, 37, currently ranked number two in the ATP, achieved the only victory missing from his record, which includes twenty-four Grand Slam titles, on Sunday.
The Serbian government has increased the prize money for gold medal winners at the Paris Olympics to 200,000 euros per medal.
Last week, Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec, along with their coaches, received the award for winning the gold medal in the 10-meter mixed pistol event in Olympic shooting.
Serbian athletes who win silver will be awarded 100,000 euros per medal, while bronze medalists will receive 60,000 euros.
According to Serbian media, this country is among those that allocate the most money to their winning athletes in Paris.
