Golden State Warriors Tie Chicago Bulls NBA Record For Most Wins In A Season
The Golden State Warriors tied the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' record for most NBA wins in a season.
Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors have tied the NBA record for most wins in a season.
The Warriors' 92-86 victory over the San Antonio Spurs was their 72nd this season, tying the 1995-96 Bulls for the most wins in an NBA campaign.
Golden State can set a record on Wednesday by beating the Memphis Grizzlies to finish 73-9.
Stephen Curry led the way with 37 points on 13-for-22 shooting for Golden State, who also broke the Bulls' record for most road wins with their 34th.
"Every night is a different situation, a different challenge," Curry told NBA TV after the game. "No matter what the circumstance is, we find a way to get it done."
The Warriors outscored the Spurs 57-51 in the second half after being tied 35-35 at half-time.
The loss was the first for the Spurs all season at home, dropping them to 39-1 ahead of hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.
A win would tie them with the 1985-86 Boston Celtics, who finished 40-1 at home.
The win also ended a streak of 33-consecutive regular-season losses for Golden State in San Antonio, dating back to February 14, 1997.
The Warriors, who will be the top seed in the Western Conference, won three of four meetings with the Spurs this season.
